SUZANNE BELPERRON. An important pair of rock crystal and diamond 'Éventail' brooches

SUZANNE BELPERRON. An important pair of rock crystal and diamond 'Éventail' brooches

Of stylised fan design, each composed of a single piece of rock crystal carved into radiating geometric segments, embellished with circular-cut diamond detail to the tips and pavé-set diamond arches to the centre, circa 1935, maker's mark for Groené et Darde, French assay marks for platinum and gold. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Olivier Baroin. Note: Originally conceived during her time at René Boivin, Suzanne Belperron made many variations of the rock crystal and diamond fan motif which is now considered one of her most iconic designs. Examples of their variations can be seen on many pages of the two books detailed below. Literature: Cf: Corbett & Landrigan, Jewellery by Suzanne Belperron, Thames & Hudson ltd. 2015, P.43 for a full-page photo of these clips in their original B. Herz box. Cf: Sylvie Raulet and Olivier Baroin, Suzanne Belperron, La Bibliothèque des Arts 2011, P. 126 for a mention of these clips from their original auction at Sotheby's New York in 2009.
