A popular style coined ‘jarretière’ in reference to the french word for garter straps, these embellished bracelets of textile-like fluidity with stylised references to bows or buckles as fasteners were revisited again many times during the 20th century too, evolving into general passementerie, creating a playful tie between the world of fashion and jewellery.
