Designed as a series of concave links in carbon fibre set with a micro mosaic frieze 'en grisaille' embellished with red accents, depicting a mythical dragon of Oriental inspiration unfurling itself in between clouds, with an chrysanthemum motif, the hinge of each link disguised with pavé-set diamond sections, mounted to the reverse with open work yellow gold decoration, 2022, signed VAMGARD and Maurizio Fioravanti, Italian assay marks for gold.
Note: As always with Maurizio Fioravanti's work, before you have time to dissect with rationality you are lost in an instinctively emotional response - unadulterated joyful amazement. This bracelet is no different and, for a moment, this dragon is real. Its gaze is intimidatingly personal...emerging out of ripples of silky shades of grey carbon fibre and billowing micro mosaic clouds...in its wake, a chrysanthemum unfurls its petals, displaying touches of colour and delicacy.
The dragon is a staple of East Asian folklore, and whilst dragons have fierce auspicious powers and symbolise strength, the chrysanthemum is the Japanese national flower and symbolises happiness and light. In this beautiful juxtaposition lies a reference to the Taoist concept of Yin and Yang...with opposing forces counterbalancing each other to form a whole...with both darkness and light being the reflection of each other and as such inseparable.
