Designed as a central domed cluster of oval-shaped and circular-cut unheated Burmese rubies, within a swirl of marquise-shaped and brilliant-cut diamonds extending to form the shank, 1950s, signed Cartier, mounted in platinum and gold.
Note: Asymmetry is always a beautiful surprise, at a casual glance this design is a sphere of colour bordered by white, but this is a domed sphere and these rubies are ever so slightly off-centre, poised at the delicate angle of a beret, and the white border is a fluid swirl composed immediately of marquise-shaped diamonds which transition to round-shaped stones as they sinew around the finger.
