Designed as a stylised snake, the yellow gold bracelet composed of a hollow case of interlocking scale-like links, creating a gentle articulation that curls around the wrist, to a head embellished with a flower-head motif of marquise-shaped facetted rubies amongst rose- and early brilliant-cut diamonds, circa 1890-1900, French assay marks for gold and stamp indicating a patent (presumably for the bracelet link) together with its original fitted case by jeweller L. Gineste 41 rue de la Grande Armée Paris.
