Designed as two circular-cut diamonds weighing approximately 3.80 carats each, within a square-shaped platinum mount that can be attached to the following structures; suspended from an articulated series of baguette stones and a square-shaped surmount set with a single circular-cut diamond to form a pair of earrings, fixed at either end of a platinum bar to form a jabot brooch, , circa 1930s, signed Mauboussin Paris, French assay marks for platinum and gold.
Accompanied by a certificate from GCS stating that the diamonds total approximately 7.60 carats, the surrounding diamonds 2.00 carats, that the main stones are H/I colour and VS1/VS2 clarity.
Note: The transformation of jewellery in this way was a great innovation of the 1930s. Whilst there were examples of suites that could be modified from the 18th Century onwards with central stones applied to necklaces or tiaras for example, it was the evolutions during the 1920s and 1930s that demanded a simpler dexterity (without the aid of your family jeweller) in these transformations. Indeed, there were jewels for town and those for country, for day and for night, and for the true disciple of fashion - for sport and for driving. It was a near impossible task to keep up with these demands without a great fortune...until the idea of reusing one or two central elements became the vogue...Many houses lay claim to the original idea, Dusausoy being one (they made a system that could be worn 28 different ways), but most of the houses embraced the concept in the end, if only to place double clip brooches on bracelets. Here is a particularly innovative and lovely example by Mauboussin...the central circular-cut diamonds in their studded setting can be screwed onto either ear pendants, ear studs, a ring or a brooch...guaranteeing you have a look for several occasions from one purchase.
