Designed as a spherical fluted emerald bead, drilled-through and suspended between diamond and cabochon-cut emerald shoulders, to a stirrup-shaped platinum mount, 1925 - 1935, French assay marks for platinum and partial maker's mark. Total weight 14.80 grams. Ring size M/N.

Embracing the fashion in the 1920s for Indian carved gems, this ring centres on an old fluted emerald bead, undoubtably from India. Cartier and Mauboussin were both known for their prolific use of such stones in this period. In an article from 1924 on Mauboussin under the title 'Bijoux D'Art' a carved emerald ring is described as "an ancient emerald decorated by a patient Hindu artist is simply mounted in platinum"

Evidence of deterioration, incidental wear and use, commensurate with age, and materials.
