Hand carved and chased from steel and inlaid with pure gold. Total weight: 62g, 17cm overall
Note
The scholar's study and scholar's table series are the manifestation of Daniel Brush's long-held fascination with Chinese and Japanese cultures and philosophy. Brush's studies in the field have permeated his artistic expression. In traditional Japanese life, rocks, brush pots, weathered wood and the sound of water brought the naturalism of the outside, inside where it influenced the paintings and poems. This hand held sculpture, hand carved and chased from steel and inlaid with pure gold is not only a tactile link with natural elements but could also function as a scroll rest when thinking and dreaming during the day.
