The scholar's study and scholar's table series are the manifestation of Daniel Brush's long-held fascination with Chinese and Japanese cultures and philosophy. Brush's studies in the field have permeated his artistic expression. In traditional Japanese life, rocks, brush pots, weathered wood and the sound of water brought the naturalism of the outside, inside where it influenced the paintings and poems.
